My first job: Tutoring English students in the Lyon College writing lab was my first job.
My favorite thing at home: My cows. I raise a small herd of cattle descended from a little bottle-baby named LuLu, who I received when I was eight years old and she was one day old.
When I’m not working, I am usually: Traveling when possible, reading, and creating art.
The best advice I ever received: An artist named Harry Ally once told me “You’ll make a thousand bad paintings, so you had better get started.” He meant that we all make mistakes on the path to our goal, but we have to take them in stride.
Favorite Books: Pride and Prejudice, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Favorite Travel Memory: I was the bass drummer for the Lyon College Bagpipe Band, and we competed in the 2006 World Bagpiping Championships in Glasgow, Scotland.
